Veterinary Surgeon
Bio:
After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2000, I began my working life in mixed practice in Sevenoaks, Kent. I had a wide and varied case load (even once being called to sedate a pet llama for grooming) all of which gave me a great start to my veterinary career. I left to pursue work in purely small animal practice, in Surrey and Middlesex before coming to Willett House in 2010. I am mainly based at our Hampton surgery, where I love working. There is a real community feel and a great opportunity to get to know clients and their wonderful companions really well. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary work, both medicine and surgery however I particularly enjoy feline medicine and we have made our Hampton surgery as feline friendly as possible. I have also recently completed further training in acupuncture, which I use as a complementary therapy in treating a wide variety of clinical presentations; and hold a Certificate in Dermatology.
I live with my partner, Leigh (-who is one of the directors) and we have 3 children, Cadan, Isla and Maya. They certainly keep us busy when we are not working! I have a massive passion for the natural world and where possible take every opportunity to explore this, from going on Safari in Africa and Mongolia, canoeing on the Amazon, to digging for worms and insects in the garden with the kids.
Pets:
Not surprisingly, both being vets, we have had a steady stream of animal companions that we have rescued in our time. Currently we have 3 cats – Vader, Chewie and Teebo – one of which has 6 toes on each foot! We also have 2 ferrets – Forest and Fable ( the ‘naughty’ one as labelled by the kids), a bearded dragons (Sparky), two rats, a Hermann tortoise and a small tropical fish collection.
Continued Professional Development:
I love working as a General Practitioner vet which I have complemented recently by undertaking a Certificate in Dermatology.
Recent continued professional development includes:
- Acupuncture foundation course
- Dermatology
- Toxicology
- Feline medicine
- Feline gastroenterology
- Dentistry
- Oncology (cancer care)
- Cardiovascular emergencies
